A BILL to amend and reenact section ten, article seven, chapter
thirty of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine
hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to
requiring the
board of examiners of registered professional nurses to
establish a register of nurses licensed as registered nurses;
to make the register available to the public; and posting of
the register on the internet.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That section ten, article seven, chapter thirty of the code of
West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 7. REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSES.
§30-7-10. Use of title "registered nurse" and abbreviation thereof; register of licensed registered
professional nurses.

Any person who holds a license to practice registered
professional nursing in this state shall have the right to use the
title "registered nurse" and the abbreviation "R.N." No other
person shall assume such title or use such abbreviation or any
other words, letters, signs or devices to indicate that the person
using the same is a registered professional nurse.

The board shall develop a register of all persons with a
license issued under the provisions of this article. The register
shall be made available to the public if requested and not later
than the first day of July, two thousand four, the board shall
establish an internet site and shall make the register available to
internet users.





NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require the board of
examiners of registered professional nurses to establish a register
of nurses licensed as registered nurses and make the register
available to the public and have it posted on the internet by July
1, 2004.
